About Sojourn J-Town

Our Mission

Sojourn Church J-Town exists to reach people with the gospel, build them together in the church, and send them into the world.

"A place where brokenness is the norm, not the exception."

Our Values

Truth

because God’s word is given to us in love to shape the way we live.

Beauty

because God is a beautiful God and our longing for beauty is a longing for him.

Grace

because everything in our life is a gift from God

Joy

because Jesus died for our joy in this world

Genuineness

because honesty about what is going on in us and around us is the beginning of wholeness

Relationships

because we are formed by and for friendships

Hospitality

because everyone matters to Jesus and we want them to know they matter to us too

Our Story

Sojourn Church J-Town was planted in 2010 in the outskirts of Jeffersontown, KY with the desire to reach J-Town and our neighboring communities with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a church that deeply values relationships, learning and growing alongside one another, building into kids and students, and equipping each person to be a faithful and loving presence of Jesus in their homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and beyond. If you live in the J-Town area, we would be thrilled to see you on Sunday, to learn your name, and welcome you into the life of our church. There is a place for you!

Our Beliefs

God wrote the Bible through men and without error. (2 Peter 1:21)

God exists eternally in a Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (2 Corinthians 13:14)

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He became a man, lived a sinless life, died on a cross, was buried, rose bodily from the grave, and ascended into Heaven to redeem sinful people. (Hebrews 1:3)

The Holy Spirit is the supernatural agent who applies salvation to sinful people, regenerating, indwelling, sanctifying, and sealing them until the day of Christ’s return. (John 15:26)

God creates all people in His image as uniquely male and female. (Genesis 1:27)

All people are sinful and in need of salvation. Salvation is a gift of God, given by grace alone, and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8)

The church is both universal and local. (Acts 2:42)

Jesus will return to earth to judge all people and to rule and reign with his saints forever. (Matthew 25:46)
